Ch. Vansteens Thundarr v Arklow

After my heart dog, BIS Ch. Skyways Sa-Wen
passed away in 1982, I found myself owned and loved by our Kees. We
had a slow start and when we met Joanne Reed of Windrift Kees and
Jan Corrington of Kemont Kees, we began our journey with Ch.
Windrift's Kobiko of Kemont and here we are today.
Arklow started back in 1970 with Shetland
Sheepdogs. That is where our name began, a small island off the
Shetland Isles near Scotland. We showed Shelties until 1980.
In 1980, Pat and I were living in Spokane, WA while he was in the
Air Force. We were coming home from a dog show with our shelties,
when at a rest area a lady approached us for help with her van.
After Pat helped her, she offered to pay. He declined and then saw
her Keeshond and it was 'love' at first sight. He told her to let us
know when she had a litter and we would like a show pup. Well, she
called later that summer, we drove out and came home with "Vansteens
Thundarr v Arklow". Pat showed him to his championship and we have
never looked back. Thundarr was his 'heart-dog' and started our
Keeshond life.
